King Jesus University:Where Learning is Permeated by God's Word
The vision is this: a university, at the heart of Vancouver, BC, which will teach all subjects, drawing unequivocally on the entire Word of God, in submission to King Jesus, for God's own glory, so that his people can flourish, through knowing him and spreading knowledge of him globally, discipling the nations. The envisioned institute might be called King Jesus University.
Downtown Vancouver
We will meet, God willing, in the heart of downtown Vancouver, as faithful representatives of the Body of Christ Jesus in the city, the province, the nation. Why not at the Vancouver Convention Centre / Canada Place and the Sinclair Centre? (I believe God has told me that this is where he wants it to be – Jordash Kiffiak.)
The Scriptures
We will teach, God willing, God’s good ways and true knowledge, drawing on the riches of the Scriptures – without any compromise or exclusion of anything. We will also teach the Bible, explicitly, with a high level of scholarship, but without syncretism.
University
We will teach, God willing, about all subjects (from arts and sciences, through law, to performing arts and beyond), with the aim of explicitly impacting every sphere of life (family, government, media, business, science, arts and entertainment, education), in complete accordance with the will of God as shown in the Word of God, avoiding every syncretism with worldly philosophies. Moral instruction, based on God’s good ways, will be an important component of all study.
Global Movement
We will send out, God willing, communities of Christians by cruise ships, one to each nation (and each state of the USA), for as many as will receive us. The communities will be teams, involving, as much as possible, families (uncles, aunts, cousins, grandparents and so forth, in addition to a man and his wife and children). Each team will also cover the necessary church leadership and also scholarly and technical expertise needed to establish a training center in a destination country. (Countries without ports may be accessed through neighbouring countries.)
Teaching All the King's laws
Educating others is a core mandate from King Jesus. It is not an option. His followers are to teach everything that he has commanded. We are not free to pick and choose what we like. All of it is important.
The Father gave all authority in heaven and on earth to Jesus. From this basis, the King initiated his educational program.
Scripture Informs All Subjects
The Bible contains not only spiritual truths, but also truth that touches all facets of human life – from history to geography, law, politics, linguistics, literature, music, astronomy, biology and more. All treasures of wisdom and knowledge are in Christ. Through him everything has been made.
Christian education has the knowledge of God, which illuminates all subjects, permeating its curricula.
Education Forms Character
Learning is not merely about acquiring knowledge. If it were, then the very knowledgeable Pharisees would have been more effective than Jesus’ disciples. It is, however, obedience to Christ that amounts to true learning. And it brings character growth.
Jesus is clear that only those who both hear his teachings and obey them remain secure when life’s storms hit. Christian education has as a core focus students’ character growth.
